A release from the desk of City Traffic Police Department states that "Driving licences of people who do not adhere to traffic rules will be evoked. Violations of overspeeding, jumping traffic signals, drink & drive, using mobile phones while driving and carrying load above the prescribed limit in goods carriages., will hereon dealt strictly as per the orders from the Supreme Court's Council on road safety.
The release also stated that "In Coimbatore, 17,887 cases have been filed against road safety violations in 2017. Out of which, 16,574 licenses of violators have been retrieved. Recommendations to the concerned RTOs have been sent to temporarily or permanently revoke the license of such violators".
The officials from the Traffic Police department have requested the people of the city to abide by traffic regulations and stay safe.
